Embers of Hope
Jesus said, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John
10:10) The hope and peace that we all crave can only be found in Him.
The Bible Says:
All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God (Romans 3:23) and that the wages of sin is death
but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23)
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should
not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrigh-
righteousness. (! John 1:9)
If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him
from the dead, you shall be saved. For whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
(Romans 10:9 & 13)
Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, He who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me
has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. (John 5:24)
To those who choose to follow Jesus he says:
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your
heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27)
I am with you always, even to the end of the age. (Matthew 28:20)
James Bragg, Marcus’ father, who the above song is about, received a Gideon Bible when he was
drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War. While in boot camp he began reading that Bible using
the outside light that shown through the old barrack’s wall after lights out. When he reached John
3:16 he realized that the Jesus he was reading about had indeed given His life for him. James’ life
has never been the same, and the decision he made in those old barracks has affected not only his life but the generations that have come after him. If you want to learn more we suggest
grabbing a Bible of your own and reading The Gospel of John. May God bless you and open your
heart as you read His Word.
